What Was Your Name Again?

I should take more of an effort to remember people’s names. The thing is I can remember your name better if I’m not introduced to you. For example, if I was sitting somewhere with my friend or something and they pointed out people around us and what their names were, I would remember. However, if you introduce me to them, I won’t. I won’t because I don’t even bother to listen to the name. I know, bad habit. It just goes so quickly. Hi I’m blah blah, hi I’m blah blah. And then you move on.

Once I was at church and my friend introduced me to two people. About 5 minutes after that, not only did I not remember their name, I didn’t even remember what they looked like! Sheesh! I was like, who did you just introduce me to again? She was like, they’re right there (standing right beside me), you want me to introduce you again? Oops.

I bring this up because its nice for people to know your name. Today at work, I passed by this one guy and he knew my name and asked how I was doing. I knew his name but I didn’t think he knew my name. I also bumped into another guy that I met for the first time last week and he remembered my name too. What’s even cooler is that the CEO knows everyones name. It’s just a nice feeling, so I should definitely try to pay attention to who I’m being introduced to, what they look like, and what their name is.

  1. what a great post! i was just thinking about this the other day because i was reading through Genesis…there is so much attached to a name…to our names. our name is our identity…a lot of times, when God wanted to change someone’s name, it was because He wanted to change their character as well. Abraham, Sarah, Jacob, Peter, Paul, etc…there was always a change in character…

Cool that the CEO knows everyone’s name…and can you imagine that God knows us all by name as well?! I think that’s even more amazing..cuz He’s a personal God and He knows us all so deeply and intimately…way more than anyone else would ever…

    good post turtle!
