Hmm, maybe it’s not burned out that I’m feeling…

Maybe, something is wrong with me.   I wonder if it is the hypocrappo acting up again…

I feel so…tired….especially last week and even today!  And at football, I was breathing pretty hard after running a small drill…and the only other time I felt that….was this other time at some other football thing where I thought..man I’m so out of shape..except it was really the hypocrappo….

Maybe its the early work hours and the long working days…

Maybe I’m too busy being out during the weeknights when I’m used to being in….

Maybe I just need time to rest…

Hopefully it’s just those things and not the hypocrappo bc I don’t think the hypocrappo should be acting up now….

Ugh..

Tired…must sleep…..

Permanent Hair Loss Solution

Have you seen those commercials on TV advertising the Permanent Hair Loss Solution?  I think the use of wording there is a bit ambiguous.  It almost seems like they are advertising that they can help you permanently lose your hair!!  But really, what they are trying to advertise is that if you have hair loss – they have a permanent solution to remedy your hair loss.  They should really re-think their wording.

Do You Play?

I’ve been trying to gather people together to play in a bball tournament in May.  So far I have little participation.  I’m wondering if I will even be able to field a team.  :(  I’m thinking this might not even go through.  I guess we will see what happens.

American Gladiators

I’m watching American Gladiators right now and I just realized that the female gladiators are not THAT big! The guy gladiators are over 6 feet tall and most weigh over 250lbs that thats muscle weight, not fat. However, the girl gladiators, with the exception of maybe a few are not really “huge”, they are just very lean and have muscles. I think the women contenders actually have a good chance at these gladiators.

It would be really fun to play the gladiator things with just all your friends. Or even just a huge obstacle course with only a bunch of friends. :)  I want to go on the eliminator!

Technology Makes People Helpless

Let’s see, what is the point of technology?  It seems like technology tends to make things faster and more efficient and sometimes “cooler”.  But with all this new technology, we tend to use our minds less.  We no longer need to take the effort to learn how to do somethings because all these new gadgets and equipment do it for us.  With us not being forced to use our minds, I think we might lose the ability to use our own heads and also lose the ability to “know how” to do things if technology weren’t around.

How many phone numbers do you know by heart?  Do you know any?  Do you even know your own phone number?  Chances are you know few, maybe your own, a significant other, your parents, a best friend.  What happens if you lose that cell phone?  You’re pretty much helpless.  You know no ones number nor do you have any way of contacting anyone.  Luckily a pay phone is not that difficult to use.

How about a map?  There were days where when you needed to go somewhere, you pulled up a map on paper and figured out the directions that way.  With GPS and Google Maps, I wonder if some people even know how to use a map.

Soon enough, people won’t even know how to write.

Now what about the people who all know how to use the “old school” stuff but don’t know how to use this new technology?  They’re basically helpless as well.  These people have basically missed the transition of things.  Technology moves so quickly that as soon as you master one thing, there is something newer and better that you have to relearn.  It seems very difficult for this set of people to ever catch up.

Computers are way too complicated to operate, as well as cell phones, cameras, and ipods (heck, what’s an ipod?)  So we end up leaving these people behind and helpless as well.  Nearly everything people use these days require some technological knowledge.  What good is that new gadget you got your mom if she doesn’t even know what it is or how to operate it?

There once was a lady who was a temp at the company I worked at.  She had to have two applications up to move data back and forth between the two.  At one point she called me over and needed help.  She said that she had opened up the first application and now the second, but she couldn’t see the first application anymore.  I was like oh, it looks like the second application you have opened just has its window maximized, just go ahead and minimize or resize the window.  She said, oh do you think you can do it for me?  Huh?!  Really?  Just click this I tell her.  Oh she says.  At another point she had made one of the rows in her excel spreadsheet wider than the others and didn’t know how to change the size of the row.  Now this lady was very sweet and nice but she really did not know how to use a computer.  Something so basic to many of us was completely foreign to her.  She ended up leaving before the week was over because she was too overwhelmed by the technology.

So is technology a good thing?  I think sometimes.  I think if you are one of the people who keep up to date with things then yes.  But I also think we need to take extra effort to train ourselves to know what to do when technology fails.

Miscommunication

Miscommunication can be a big problem, in fact, it is a big problem.  It happens a lot.  Miscommunication can cause so many things to go wrong.  You can end up waiting to meet someone at right wrong time or wrong day, you can get your food order wrong, you can end up getting surgery on the wrong part of your body, you can hurt people’s feelings, you can lose a ball game, you can make someone look bad, you can do a lot of things…  I feel like I somehow frequently find myself surrounded by this “miscommunication” and I don’t like it very much.  It just makes everything difficult.  Actually, now that I think about it, miscommunication is often caused by people making assumptions.  Ever heard of that saying “don’t assume” because when you assume, you make an ass out of u and me?  People assume things and things get all out of hand.

So how can we be better communicators?  There must be no ambiguity.  Think before your act.  Communicate frequently?  Try to understand each other’s way of viewing things?  Know where the person is coming from?  Find out the goal?

How?

Mickey D’s

On Friday, I went to lunch at McDonalds with my coworkers. I ordered a Filet o fish which is normally pretty tasty. I was about to eat it and was commenting on how the bun looked fake because it was so “perfectly plump” looking. Then I went to open up the bun and look inside. The piece of cheese was about ¼ of a normal slice of cheese! It seriously looked like the size of a those mini post its. I was like, uh..the heck why is the cheese so small?! And everyone was looking at it and laughing at it. And my coworker is like, why don’t you go ask them? I’m like uh no, you ask them. He’s like okay. LOL. So he took it and asked them why the cheese is so small. They’re like, oh we only put half a cheese slice on there. Uh..the heck. Why? The picture doesn’t show half a cheese! Ripoff. So they’re like, oh we can give you a whole one. So they took it and put a whole slice on. But now it wasn’t melted. So it tasted gross. Plus I was eating the sandwich and it was all watery! Like water was dripping out of the fish. And my coworker was like, its cause the fish was probably frozen. And then another coworker is like, they probably spit in your food cause you took it back!!! Oh man, they had a good laugh at that. And then I got an ice cream cone. I like their soft serve. Anyway, I got down to the final cone part and it has the paper wrapper on it so that people don’t touch the part you are actually going to eat. So I’m ripping off the wrapper so I can eat the rest of the cone to discover that they GLUE the wrapper on. So, I don’t even want to eat it, because there is GLUE on the cone!! So then they had a great laugh at that too! Stupid Mcdonalds.

Attention Dress and Skirt Wearers

Note to ladies who wear dresses or skirts:

I do not recommend wearing such apparel and sitting up high in the bleachers with your legs not closed nor do I recommend walking up steep bleachers.

Thanks.

//edit

This lady was wearing a skirt and sitting at the top bleachers at basketball.  She should sit more properly especially since she is up high because everyone on the court can look up and see…  I told someone to tell that lady to sit better.  The lady didn’t take it too well. =P

Amazing Transformation

My desk at work is out in the open, meaning I can pretty much see everyone that walks by. Today, out of the corner of my eye, I saw this lady that I didn’t recognize start to walk by, but next thing you know she’s walking towards me. She’s like, “hey!” And I look at her and am trying to figure out who she is because she clearly knows me! As soon as she starts talking, I recognize her by her voice. I didn’t recognize her by her looks because she must have lost 100lbs! It was crazy. She’s a developer for the company I work at but telecommutes from a different state. She only comes into the office maybe once or twice a year, so the last time I had seen her was some time ago. It’s amazing how people can transform. I can’t believe how much weight she lost. She looks good. Good for her. I’m sure it was difficult. Craziness.
